Istanbul’s Sacred District

The historic Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul is famous for its rich cultural heritage and historical texture. This district is one of the oldest settlements in Istanbul and is of great importance for the Islamic world. Sacred sites such as the Eyüp Sultan Mosque and Tomb are located here and are visited by thousands of visitors every year.

The photographs show a cross-section of the historical and cultural sites and streets of the district. These places are an important heritage reflecting Eyüpsultan’s past and present. The photographs also present slices from the lives of the people living in the district today. These sections reveal the daily lives, beliefs and values of Eyüpsultan people.

This project shows that Eyüpsultan is a living history and that this history continues today.

🇹🇷 İstanbul’un tarihi Eyüpsultan ilçesi, zengin kültürel mirası ve tarihi dokusuyla ünlüdür. Bu semt, İstanbul’un en eski yerleşim yerlerinden biridir ve İslam dünyası için büyük önem taşımaktadır. Eyüp Sultan Camii ve Türbesi gibi kutsal mekânlar burada yer almakta ve her yıl binlerce ziyaretçi tarafından ziyaret edilmektedir.

Fotoğraflar, ilçenin tarihi ve kültürel mekânlarından ve sokaklarından bir kesiti göstermektedir. Bu mekânlar Eyüpsultan’ın geçmişini ve bugününü yansıtan önemli bir mirastır. Fotoğraflar aynı zamanda bugün ilçede yaşayan insanların hayatlarından da kesitler sunuyor. Bu kesitler Eyüpsultan halkının gündelik yaşamlarını, inançlarını ve değerlerini gözler önüne seriyor.

Bu proje Eyüpsultan’ın yaşayan bir tarih olduğunu ve bu tarihin günümüzde de devam ettiğini gösteriyor.
